I tried this on and it feels lovely on the wrist, and cool with its understatement, as the opposite to all the messy watches seen on wrists around. Oh, and it lets us buy more watches, too. It was lost in a move years ago, but he continues to hunt for a similar piece on eBay. They also offer fair prices and fast shipping. Tissot has its own Heritage collection that draws on over 165 years of watchmaking.

Tissot Heritage Visodate Automatic

Celebrating its centenary, the Visodate was the first automatic watch to feature a date window that instantaneously changed at midnight. This new version, while certainly not a replica of the original, takes the best elements of the 1973 version and updates them for the modern consumer. We recently reviewed the , a piece inspired by a 1943 Tissot classic, and now shift our attention to the Heritage Visodate Automatic, which harkens back to the 1950s when the brand celebrated its 100th anniversary and something that was quite innovative back in the days. There are a couple of dial options, including silver and a deep sunburst blue, but this black and silver palette is the most eye-catching in my opinion. But the size is fine, it feels smaller. The aforementioned cushion case utilizes a mix of brushed and polished finishing techniques, and has curves that should help make it wear comfortably. The calibre has 25 jewels, beats at 28,800vph 4Hz with a 40-hour power reserve.

Let us know what you think about the new Tissot Heritage 1973 Chronograph in the comments below. Well, the panda dial, for one. The Heritage Visodate Automatic celebrates the first automatic watch to integrate an instantaneous date complication in 1953. With the first mass-produced pocket watch in the 1850s and first anti-magnetic watch in 1929 among many firsts , the company is a true pioneer as well. The deployment clasp is sturdy, also made of stainless steel. It hacks and can be manually wound. Shout-out to for loaning me this one! Equipped of dark counters and tachymeter contrasting with a white background, the two-colored dial brings back in trend a vintage design reminding of the sporty chronograph from 1973.

It fits under a shirt cuff, and it will never go out of style. It feels strong and did not come undone unexpectedly. Again, this is just a personal gripe and both the strap and clasp are well made and otherwise comfortable. They say some things were just better back in the day. The size has grown a bit to reflect more contemporary proportions, but would otherwise fit right in on a 1950s wrist. Thank you for supporting our website. Do you like the updated look, or does the historical model win out? From 1945 to 1955, the Datejust had a gradual date change shortly before midnight, but not an instantaneous change.

Inspired by a Tissot watch from 1948, this Heritage model commemorates Tissot's rich collection of chronographs in the 1940s. While different in many ways from the original 1957 Visodate, it evokes its predecessors style without taking away from its own. We are participants in the Amazon Associates referral prorgram. This automatic chronograph incorporates the very best of past and present technology. But I much prefer it in ivory dial. The Tissot Heritage 1973 will be available in May, in a limited edition of 1973 pieces. The 1950s was an exciting decade for watches and Tissot released its own icon in 1953 with the Visodate.

Tissot has always enjoyed a reputation for producing high-quality Swiss watches that are both affordable and forward-thinking, and the Visodate really encapsulated that ethos. Although the new Visodate debuted almost a decade ago, it remains a very intriguing value proposition from a storied brand and overshadows microbrands vying for the same market. While the leather strap versions are more classical, the milanese bracelet gives it a contemporary touch. Ironically, I feel this contributes to its smaller diameter presence on the wrist. This actually undercuts many comparable microbrand offerings. I have a smaller than average wrist and find that deployment clasps rarely sit at a good centred position, often closing at an uncomfortable angle especially when I move my wrist. The Heritage 1973 uses a Valjoux 7753 automatic movement, which is in the same movement family as the more widely used 7750 the 7753 uses a pusher on the case band for date adjustments.

It looks luxurious without being pretentious; inviting, but not obnoxious. Compared to the , the hour markers on the modern version are more trapezoidal. The majority out there should be happy with it, but I would swap it for something comparable with a pin buckle. The print is black on a white background with an optional red numeral next to the day and Sunday Sun is always printed in red. The modern Tissot logo is a simpler sans serif. The next significant change is the dial layout. While in 1945, the Rolex Datejust was the first automatic watch with date complication in a window, the Crown only added this feature to its watch in 1955 and also the cyclops.
